An exercise in plain, blank verse.

A beautiful and precious girl, a sweet
And tender soul whose face is backlit hard
By rainbow shades of color from a tall,
Imposing sheet of bright chromatic glass
Inside a college chapel filled with sounds
Of gospel teaching, psalms and heaven's gates
Is drawn to read the glossy paperback
She cradles in her lap wherein a girl,
A different girl, is faced with illness, pain,
Despair and death and has no light to shine
Upon her face or rainbow shades to bathe
and wash her pains away like how the girl,
The other girl, who sits inside a small
And cozy chapel does so very well.
